石原孟教授のプロジェクトがTodai Researchで紹介 　Professor Takeshi Ishihara’s project introduced on Todai Research

再生可能エネルギーとして世界中で注目される風力発電は、山が険しく海が深い日本には適さないと言われていました。2012年、福島県いわき沖で、複数の風車を用いた「海に浮かぶ発電所」の実証研究が始まります。大学院工学系研究科社会基盤学専攻の石原孟教授が仕掛けた世界初のウィンドファーム建設プロジェクトに、さまざまな分野の研究者と、国産企業の技術力が結集しました。

Wind power is being pursued around the world as a renewable energy solution, but so far has not seemed suited to Japan’s steep mountains and deep seas. In 2012, proof-of-concept research for a multiple turbine floating power station will start off the Iwaki coast of Fukushima Prefecture. Launched by Professor Takeshi Ishihara of the University of Tokyo’s Graduate School of Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering, major Japanese corporations and researchers from multiple fields have come together in this world-first wind farm project.
